Prize Winner details:

Santosh Kumar brushed aside the challenge from Beijing Olympics-returned Surendra Singh to claim the top spot in the men's category of the Givelife Chennai Marathon on August 31, 2008.. Sandeep Kumar came third. Surendra, a national record holder in the 10,000m category and also a former winner of the Mumbai Half-Marathon and the Bangalore Marathon, was no match for Santosh Kumar who clocked 01:04:03sec

Another Olympian, Preeja Sreedharan, bagged the top honours in the women's event, while Preethi L. Rao came second. Pocketing the winner's cheque of Rs. 10 lakh, a visibly ecstatic Preeja said: "It gives me immense satisfaction to win this event. I will try to continue with the good form and do well in other long-distance events across the world."

Kavitha Raut bagged the third spot.
